Receiving more than we give

Am many of you know when you travel with Transformational Journey's you receive more than you give.  Although we give the individual a great gift, either a stove or school, or now a church, we walk away with something bigger.  Memories that will change and shape the people we are.  We build friendships.  I've always believed it is fare better to give than receive.  Being a parent it's so much more exciting to give those gifts rather than opening mine.  We've been blessed to be able to build stoves, a school, and now building a church.  The foundations to build a better community, to lead to a better way of life, and a new generation of kids growing up educated.

The Blessings

I find myself blessed in so many ways I can't even begin to count them.  I often take many of those for granted.  Today simple things in life filled my heart with job.

1. Listening to several ladies next to our work sight laughing and talking.  Laughter in any language is contagious.  It was a joy to hear and a true blessing today.

2. Being invited to play football (soccer) today.  4 kids age 5-6, 3 kids age 8-10 and myself.  (kid at heart).  I had my work boots on, jeans, and a hat.  No I couldn't run after them and go toe to toe so I played Goalie.  They only scored 7 goals on me, but it was also difficult because two if the younger kids wanted me to toss them in the air and catch them.  So I had to multi task.  A blessing on a rocky dirt soccer field.  OH, that was also after chopping 300 cinder blocks in half.

3.  Telling jokes with each other while standing in the back of a small Toyota truck while viewing 3 different Volcano's, one of which has smoke rolling out of it.

As most of you who have participated with this amazing organization, you too I'm sure have been Transformed by the rewards of your hard work and sacrifice to make such a difference in someone else's life.

Feeling blessed with life's little little moments.

Rolling Hills building a church

Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church in Overland Park Kansas has set out to rebuild a church in San Gregorio Quixaya.  Rebuilding because they already had a house of worship, but it needed a little assistance.

We set out Friday morning February the 5th.  Arriving at the Airport at 4:15 am and flew down to Houston and then to Guatemala City.  Two more hours of driving to San Lucas Toliman.

We got some work done on Saturday and we'll be hitting the building hard on Monday and Tuesday.
